Call for Papers: The 21st China Conference on Machine Translation and Multilingual Technology (CCMT 2025)
The 21st China Conference on Machine Translation and Multilingual Technology (CCMT 2025) will be held from September 26th to September 28th, 2025, in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, China. This conference is organized by the Chinese Information Processing Society of China (CIPS) and hosted by Northwest Minzu University. CCMT aims to provide an interactive platform for the machine translation community both domestically and internationally, fostering academic exchange, and bringing together experts and scholars to conduct in-depth discussions on key issues in machine translation theories, methods, application technologies, and evaluation activities, thereby actively promoting the development of machine translation in China.
The conference has been successfully held for twenty consecutive sessions (the first fourteen sessions were named the China Workshop on Machine Translation - CWMT, and the fifteenth to the twentieth sessions were named the China Conference on Machine Translation - CCMT). During this time, it has organized fourteen machine translation evaluations, one open-source system module development (2006), and two strategic seminars (2010, 2012). These activities have had a positive and profound impact on promoting the research and development of machine translation technology in China. CCMT has become a highly influential academic event in the field of natural language processing in China.
In addition to academic paper presentations, this conference will feature invited talks by renowned domestic and international experts, tutorials for students and young scholars, and panel discussions with experts from academia and industry. Through these diverse formats, participants will interact and explore the most pressing research topics and reveal the pioneering blueprint for machine translation. Simultaneously, CCMT 2025 will continue to organize machine translation evaluations, including bilingual translation tasks (Chinese-English, English-Chinese, Uyghur-Chinese, Tibetan-Chinese, and Mongolian-Chinese), automatic post-editing (Chinese-English, English-Chinese), and multi-domain Chinese-English machine translation (e.g., automotive, electronics, energy, economics, IT, literature, machinery, medicine). Academic exchanges and thematic discussions on the evaluation work will also be held during the conference.
Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:
- Dictionaries, corpus processing techniques, and tool development for machine translation.
- Machine translation models and methods, including rule-based, statistical, neural network-based.
- Multilingual large language models and machine translation
- Fundamental NLP tasks related to machine translation, such as morphological analysis, syntactic parsing, semantic analysis, discourse analysis.
- Cross-lingual techniques in low-resource scenarios.
- Domain adaptation for machine translation.
- Multimodal/Cross-modal machine translation, including text, image, speech, video.
- Machine translation for minority languages.
- Pre-processing and post-processing techniques for machine translation.
- Development of machine translation applications, including computer-aided translation, embedded translation, interactive translation, multilingual dialogue, cross-lingual collaborative dialogue.
- Methods, tools, and web services integrating machine translation and translation users, including improving user translation efficiency, collecting user post-editing data, quality evaluation of post-editing services.
- Machine translation evaluation methods.
- Multilingual/Cross-lingual information processing, including information retrieval, question answering, information extraction, summarization, content generation, and text style transfer.
- Multilingual content generation and cross-lingual text style transfer.
- Applications of machine translation in other natural language processing tasks.
The conference continues to solicit original academic papers from both domestic and international researchers. The conference will feature Highlight Papers, which will be selected during the conference, and certificates will be awarded.
Furthermore, CCMT 2025 allows parallel submission. Provided the policies of other conferences or journals permit, CCMT 2025 will consider papers that are under review elsewhere, and papers can be submitted to other venues during the CCMT 2025 review period. CCMT 2025 will not consider any paper that significantly overlaps in content or results with papers that are to be published (or have been published) by other conferences or journals. Authors submitting more than one paper to CCMT 2025 must ensure that the overlap in content or results between the submitted papers does not exceed 25%.
The conference accepts two types of submissions: long papers (main body not exceeding 12 pages) and short papers (main body not exceeding 6 pages). Submissions in both Chinese and English are accepted. English manuscripts must follow the [ACL Rolling Review (ARR)] format (refer to: https://aclrollingreview.org/authors). Chinese manuscripts should follow the format of the Journal of Xiamen University (Natural Science Edition). Reviewing will be double-blind. Please do not include author names, affiliations, or other identifying information in the manuscript. The citations should not use "We propose..."; please use forms such as "The Author Name proposes...".
Accepted English papers will be recommended based on quality by Machine Intelligence Research (MIR) (SCI-indexed) or Journal of Computer Science and Technology (JCST) (SCI-indexed) or Springer CCIS. All accepted Chinese papers will be recommended based on quality and author preference for consideration (subject to review) by Journal of Peking University (Natural Science Edition) (EI-indexed), Journal of Xiamen University (Natural Science Edition), or Journal of Beijing Jiaotong University (Natural Science Edition).
